Non-Driver Medical Discount in Saskatchewan: How to Qualify
If a medical condition prevents you from driving, SGI offers a 25% discount on basic auto insurance for light vehicles, private passenger vehicles and light farm vehicles.
Who qualifies
- You're at least 15 years old.
- You haven't been convicted of a driving-related Criminal Code offence in the last 10 years.
- You don't meet Canadian Medical Association guidelines for driver licensing.
This discount isn't intended for conditions expected to improve over time. SGI's driver medical appraisers — medical professionals experienced in how conditions affect driving ability — make the determination.
How to apply
Complete the form on SGI's Non-driver medical discount brochure, or send a letter or email to SGI's Medical Review Unit (MRU) with the date, your name, address, city, postal code, phone number, and a recent report from your physician explaining why you don't meet the medical standard to drive (your physician may charge a fee for this report).
